Fuelled by a passion for storytelling, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts dual degree in English and Journalism from what is now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she honed her writing skills and fostered a deep appreciation for the power of words.
Launching her illustrious career at KATC in Lafayette, she spent two decades as an anchor, reporter, and managing editor. During her tenure, she showcased her exceptional talents, earning numerous AP awards for feature reporting and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for an impactful feature report. Her journalistic endeavors extended far beyond the realm of local news, allowing her to interview luminaries like Mother Teresa, cover Papal visits, and explore Acadian culture across Canada.
While her professional life flourished, she also immersed herself in the local arts scene, affiliating with several Lafayette area arts groups, supporting the Hospice of Acadiana, and contributing her expertise to various boards, including the Lafayette Natural History Museum and Planetarium. As an advocate for education, she played a pivotal role in the Alumni Association of her alma mater, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
In 2002, she embarked on a new chapter at KVHP-FOX29 in Lake Charles, where her dynamic presence graced the screens as an anchor and producer. Even with her TV commitments, her love for books remained steadfast, and she found herself drawn to a part-time position at the Calcasieu Parish Public Library System. Embracing her lifelong passion, she reveled in the world of literature, surrounded by the very essence of her dreams—books.
Currently, she thrives as the assignments editor and the anchor of 7News at Noon, continuing to make a difference in the lives of viewers with her compelling reporting. Her dedication to both journalism and the community has earned her admiration and accolades, including the Media Award from the Acadiana Arts Council.
Beyond her journalistic pursuits and love for books, she indulges in various hobbies. Her affinity for jazz music led to a vast collection, and her passion for collecting rare first edition, signed books showcases her reverence for literary treasures. Brooches and pins hold a special place in her heart, and she cherishes her extensive collection, passed down from her mother and enriched over the years.
Amidst her busy schedule, she remains a devoted animal lover, caring for her two dogs and a beautiful grey cat in rural Jeff Davis Parish. Surrounded by the tranquil beauty of her home, she revels in the simple joys of life.
