His journey in the industry began in 1978 at KOMO-TV in Seattle, where he served as a film editor and news production assistant while pursuing his studies at the University of Washington. Building on his skills, he then ventured to KNDO-TV before making his way to KGGM-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
During his time there, Sillence’s talent and dedication were recognized with the prestigious Associated Press award for the best newscast in New Mexico. Additionally, he clinched the Associated Press award for the second-best sportscast in the state.
Nearly 15 years ago, Sillence returned to the Yakima Valley, a place he cherishes deeply. Throughout his tenure there, he has earned numerous accolades, including the esteemed Associated Press first place for the best sportscast in Washington.
His commitment to the local sports community extends beyond his reporting duties, as he is actively involved with the Yakima Valley Sports Commission. You can often find him emceeing various events throughout the area, adding a personal touch to the sports scene year-round.
