Alexa Helwig is an American journalist from Cincinnati currently working as a news reporter for WKRC-TV since September 2019.
Alexa Helwig Biography
Helwig was born and raised in Milford, Ohio a suburb of Cincinnati. She began her gymnastics and dance career at the tender age of five, she went as far as competing in regional and national competitions. During university, she was a four-year member of the University of Cincinnati (UC) Dance Team. In 2014 she took part in the National Championship team in which she was a two-time World champion.
In 2014 she travelled with the UC dance team to china where they competed in an international competition where they won the gold medal. She is a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds and never misses the chance to attend a game in the summer. Her favorite former player is none other but Todd Frazier.
For two summers she also participated in dancing for two summers at the entertainment shows on King’s Island. She also boasts of having met Britney Spears twice. One of her favorite travel destinations is New York City. She also loves fitness and working out. She has one dog named Cece that she loves very much.
Alexa began her journey at the University of Cincinnati in 2010 till 2015, where she minored in Electronic media and majored in BA communication. She has however had a wide range of jobs starting with being a dancer and performer at Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. Where among her tasks was Performing six shows on two main stages, six days a week for park guests.
She later went on to become an intern at ESPN1530 at iHeartMedia, where among other things looked for and booked guests on a weekly basis. Shortly after she interned at Bearcat’s TV at UC, where among other things she interviewed players and coaches live. She also taught dance and tumbling for eight years at Dance Etc. to children between the ages of 3 and 13.
Alexa joined FOX 19 WXIX in September 2015, she was the news content specialist. A year later in September 2016, she joined WHIZ Media Group Southeastern Ohio Broadcasting Company as an anchor and reporter. A year later she left for Lexington, Kentucky to work at WLEX-TV as a multimedia journalist. That was her last assignment before joining WKRC-TV.
Apart from telling stories in her favorite city, Alexa enjoys working out, watching Cincinnati sports, taking dance classes, and trying new food!
