Ames Meyer is an American journalist working as an airborne photojournalist for NBC 5. She brings news of the Dallas-Fort Worth area from Chopper 5.

Her hobbies include playing soccer with the NTWSA and finds time for racing her own Jet Ski on most summer weekends. She is also a big fan of the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team.
Before joining NBC, her career had taken her through Fort Wayne, Louisville, and Tampa before arriving in Dallas. She loves to fly and shoot news.
Her experience over the past 20 years and considers this job her dream job. She is based out of the Garland-DFW Heliport with SKY Helicopters, Chopper 5. Ames has received several honors including an Edward R. Murrow Award.
She received this prestigious award because of her story, Disaster on I-4. Some of the major stories she has covered include, includes her unique coverage of the Possum Kingdom wildfires that raged the summer of 2011 and the North Texas tornadoes in April of 2012. She also covered the
amazing footage showed around the world when the ice and snow slid off the roof of Cowboys Stadium just days before Super Bowl XLV.
