In November 2019, Ben joined KSTP 5 Eyewitness News as a reporter. Before becoming part of the team, he spent a few years in sunny Florida, anchoring and reporting for WBBH and WZVN in Fort Myers.

During his time there, he earned recognition for his exceptional work, receiving an Associated Press award as ‘Best MMJ’ in 2019. Interestingly, Ben is no stranger to the Hubbard Broadcasting family, having previously worked as a reporter for KSTP’s sister station, KAAL, in Rochester, MN, for a couple of years after college.

Ben is a proud graduate of Robbinsdale Armstrong High School, and he grew up in New Hope. He went on to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism at St. Cloud State University. Throughout his time in high school and college, Ben actively participated in lacrosse and remains passionate about the sport, often carrying his lacrosse stick during his runs.

One of the most memorable experiences in his career was covering Hurricane Irma while in Fort Myers. Ben took pride in helping the community prepare for the hurricane and then reporting on the efforts to recover, making it one of the highlights of his career.

Back in his home state, Ben is thrilled to have the opportunity to play pond hockey again, and when the ice melts, he enjoys cruising the shoreline on his pontoon at his cabin in Annandale. Spending quality time with friends and family is a significant part of Ben’s life, and he is excited to embrace his role as an uncle for the first time, eagerly watching his nephew grow up.
