Ben Hill Biography and Career

Ben Hill, an Emmy-nominated journalist, holds the esteemed position of Anchor for NewsChannel 5 This Morning. Hailing from Owensboro, KY, just north of Nashville, Ben is thrilled to be back in the southern region, serving the community with his exceptional reporting.

Prior to joining NewsChannel 5, Ben held the role of Anchor for “Eyewitness News Sunrise” at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, IN. His work at WTHR was marked by notable achievements, including leading live coverage of the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Windsor and London, England.

He also anchored the live coverage of the Noblesville School shooting and provided captivating pre-race coverage leading up to the Indianapolis 500 from the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Additionally, Ben played a significant role in hosting the “Circle of Lights,” a cherished Indy tradition that welcomes the holiday season with grandeur in front of thousands of spectators.

Before his tenure at WTHR, Ben served as the Anchor for “The Morning News” on FOX Carolina in South Carolina. During his time in the Carolinas, he extensively covered the presidential primary election, interviewing prominent candidates such as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

He also participated as a panelist in the “Palladian View,” a forum that hosted Republican presidential candidates, where he had the opportunity to question them about their policy positions. Additionally, Ben reported live continuous coverage during the tragic shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

Ben’s broadcasting journey began as a Weekend Anchor/Reporter at NBC affiliate KETK in Tyler, TX, where he covered President Obama’s announcement on the death of Osama bin Laden. He also served as an Anchor for NBC 33 in Baton Rouge, LA.

As he pursued his B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from Western Kentucky University, Ben demonstrated his dedication to the field by interning with “NBC Nightly News” and “Good Morning America” in New York City. During his time with “Nightly News,” he contributed to several significant stories, including coverage of the Iranian Presidential election and the attempted terrorist bombing of “Flight 253” on Christmas Day.

Beyond his journalism career, Ben is an avid golfer and actively contributes to the Indiana Golf Foundation as a board member, providing countless Indiana youth with the opportunity to experience the benefits of playing golf.

Together with his wife, Holly, their daughter Harper, and their dog Tyler, Ben embraces all that Nashville has to offer, making the most of their time in the vibrant and diverse community.
