Ben Jones serves as the esteemed Chief Meteorologist for 13WMAZ in Macon, Georgia, where he brings accurate and reliable weather updates to the viewers. He is a trusted source for weekday weather forecasts, sharing his expertise during 13WMAZ News at 5, 6, 10, and 11 p.m.

Ben’s commitment to meteorology is evident through his achievements, including holding the esteemed Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society. As the only AMS Certified Meteorologist in Central Georgia, he stands out as a beacon of knowledge and professionalism in his field.

His broadcasting career began at a young age of 17, where he took his first steps into radio. Over the course of more than 20 years, Ben has accumulated a wealth of broadcast experience, honing his skills and becoming a respected figure in the industry.

Throughout his journey, Ben has held various positions at notable radio stations, starting as a midday announcer and Assistant Production Director at WQBZ-Q106. He furthered his career as an afternoon announcer and Assistant Program Director at WMGB-B93.7. After a stint at 98 Rock in Charleston, S.C., he returned to his roots in Macon.

To fortify his passion for meteorology, Ben undertook coursework through Mississippi State University to become a qualified Meteorologist, enhancing his ability to deliver accurate weather information to the public.

In August 2009, Ben entered a new chapter in his life when he tied the knot with Lorra Lynch, a valued member of 13WMAZ. Together, they have three children—Olsen, Benjamin, and the newest addition, Ella Hope, affectionately known as Hope.

Beyond his dedication to meteorology, Ben cherishes his time with Lorra and their children, relishing family moments. He also indulges in hobbies such as building and painting, listening to music, and passionately supporting the Atlanta Braves.

Originally from Macon, Ben Jones embodies the spirit of his community through his professional excellence and devotion to his family.
