After braving the ‘chilly’ winters in the Northwest, News Anchor and MMJ Ben Kaplan is thrilled to embark on a new adventure with the WCTV team in the Sunshine State.
Ben joins Tallahassee after an impressive stint as an Anchor and Sports Director at KFBB, the ABC/FOX affiliate in Great Falls, Montana, where he covered a wide range of stories, from election season to National Police Week in Washington D.C. following the tragic loss of a local sheriff’s deputy.
Prior to his time in Great Falls, Ben spent nearly five years at KXLY, the ABC station in Spokane, Washington, earning a Regional Emmy nomination for his remarkable series on individuals overcoming personal and physical obstacles through sports. He also has experience working at WWSB in Sarasota, Florida, which has been his family’s home since 2000, making his return to Florida all the more special.
Community involvement holds great significance for Ben, and he has actively participated in various fundraising efforts for organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, even serving as a ‘Big’ mentor while in Spokane. Eager to make a positive impact, he looks forward to getting involved in the Big Bend Area.
A proud 2002 graduate of the University of Montana, Ben exudes enthusiasm for his alma mater, the Griz! Additionally, he proudly identifies as a devoted Cubs fan, always hoping that ‘this is their year’. And, in the spirit of embracing his new home, he is excitedly anticipating the experience of attending a Florida State football game. With his passion for news, community engagement, and love for sports, Ben Kaplan is set to make a memorable mark in Florida’s vibrant media landscape.
