Bethany Joy Lenz is an American actress, singer, songwriter and filmmaker. She is best known for her portrayal of Haley James Scott in The WB/CW television drama One Tree Hill.

She is the daughter of George Lenz(father) and Catharine Malcolm Holt Shepard(mother). She is the only child of her parents. Her father is a history teacher as well as a therapist while her mother is a personnel manager and also an entrepreneur. Her grandfather was a singer.
Lenz had followed her grandfather’s footsteps and began singing when she was three years old at the church named as The Carpenter’s Church in Lakeland, Florida. When she was seven years old she did her first stage performance in Munchkin named The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a local production.

Lenz started her first professional drama series Swans Crossing during her trip to Los Angeles. When she was seventeen years old she acted on the CBS Daytime soap opera named Guiding Light.
In 1999 when she was working on daytime series named Guiding Light she graduated from Eastern Christian High School in New Jersey. At the end of her two-year contract with The Guiding Light, she seized the opportunity to leave her role as Michelle Bauer Santos and moved from New York City to Los Angeles to gain exposure in different avenues.
She had acted in many films and television series. Her films include Psalty’s Salvation Celebration (1992), I Love You, I Love You Not (1996), Thinner (1996), End of August (2000), Bring It On Again (2004), Just Yell Fire: Campus Life (2011), The Christmas Secret (2014).
She had done many television programs including 1973 (1998), The Guiding Light (1998-2000), Off Centre (2001), May Be Its Me (2002), The Guardian (2003), One Tree Hill (2003-2012), etc.  Her first album, entitled Preincarnate, was released in October 2002. After recording When the Stars Go Blue in 2005 with Tyler Hilton they joined The Wreckers and Gavin DeGraw for a tour named 25-city North America One Tree Hill which started in Vancouver.
In 2006, alongside ex-American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, Lenz co-wrote and recorded “Halo” which was released in the second volume of the One Tree Hill Soundtrack. In the same year, Lenz traveled to Los Angeles to record as well as to write various songs for soundtrack named Ten Inch Hero.
In 2008 she formed a new band named Everly. In 2012 November she joined a band Wakey! Wakey! She also joined other singers at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City for BTF Concerts: Rock The Schools 2012.
In the concert, Lenz sold 9 songs CD named Then Slowly Grows. During an interview with Mary Ann Albright in late July 2013, Lenz talked about her musical career plans. In November 2014, Lenz created a Kickstarter fundraising page for her new EP. They toured from May to July 2016 and said an album is in preparation for 2017. Bethany Joy Lenz was nominated for Teen Choice Award as Choice TV: Parental Unit and Choice TV: Female Scene Stealer in 2010.
During an interview with Mary Ann Albright in late July 2013, Lenz talked about her musical career plans. She shared her intention to release her first full-length studio album, entitled Your Woman in the near future as an independent release on her blog. Lenz went on to say, “The best way I can describe this album is Patsy Cline meets Paula Cole meets Sam Cooke.”
On August 10, 2013, Lenz released “Please” on vibedeck and August 11 on iTunes as Bette[citation needed] for her fans after she had performed it at the Rock the Schools Concert in 2012. On July 18, 2014, Lenz released “Calamity Jane” on iTunes. The song was a teaser for her soon-to-be-released album. Lenz stated: “While I’m reworking my album, here’s a little teaser. This song will sound totally different on the new record, but I thought you’d enjoy hearing this version.” On July 21, the song was on her WhoSay site and later on her SoundCloud site.
In November 2014, Lenz created a Kickstarter fundraising page for her new EP. Production on the EP began in early December. As well as supporting the new EP, fans were able to give back to the charity Stop the Traffik. The project, entitled “Get Back to Gold” was released (iTunes, Amazon.com) on December 23, 2014, and was a sneak peek for her new album.
Due to legal proceedings with her producer, David Waechter, the project was halted. Lenz decided to change her team and is now performs as Joy Lenz and the Firepit Band. The lineup consists of WhiteRose (Danny Shyman) on guitar, Doo Crowder on vocals and guitar, Ben Zelico on drums and Meaghan Maples and Brittany Gilmore as back up singers. They toured from May to July 2016 and said an album is in preparation for 2017.
