In 2006, Bill was called back to the anchor desk when his former replacement, Ted Hall, left Channel 10. Although he officially retired again, Bill’s passion for broadcasting led him to continue working on some of his favorite projects, which viewers will still have the pleasure of seeing on Channel 10.

Among his notable contributions, Bill co-hosts the annual Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, a heartwarming event that touches the lives of many. He is also deeply committed to the “Mission of Hope,” an outreach program focused on aiding individuals trapped in the pockets of poverty in the mountains of rural Appalachia. This meaningful initiative was born in 1996, spurred by Bill’s compassionate reporting on the struggles faced by the impoverished in the region.

Another area where Bill made a significant difference is through the “Monday’s Child” adoption program, which he started in 1980. Through this program, Bill introduced special needs children to the community, and thanks to his efforts, over a thousand of these children have found permanent loving homes.

Throughout his illustrious career, Bill has earned numerous awards from both the broadcast industry and the community, but some of the most cherished accolades include the “Silver Circle Award” from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree bestowed upon him by Carson Newman College.

While Bill may be semi-retired, he remains far from idle. In addition to his continued involvement with Channel 10 projects, he is a frequent speaker before community and church groups, sharing his experiences and wisdom.

However, Bill and his wife Wanda now have more precious time to indulge in their favorite activity – spending quality moments with their three beloved grandchildren. As they embark on this new chapter of life, the legacy of compassion, community engagement, and positive change that Bill Williams has left behind will continue to resonate for generations to come.
