In April 2016, Thompson became a prominent face on DCW News at 10, contributing to its successful launch. Before that, he served as a dedicated reporter and anchor for WNEW 99.1 FM in Washington, D.C., focusing on covering the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.
During this period, Thompson also contributed as a freelance reporter for WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., showcasing his versatility and commitment to journalism. His journey in the media industry began as a reporter and anchor with Radio NL in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
Throughout his tenure in Washington, D.C., Thompson has covered a wide range of significant events, including the 2012 Derecho, the disappearance and search for Relisha Rudd, and the aftermath of Freddie Gray’s death, including the subsequent protests and trials.
His dedication to reporting has earned him several prestigious awards from the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association (CAPBA), with accolades such as “Best Reporter” in 2015, in addition to being a valuable contributor to Edward R. Murrow and CAPBA award-winning entries.
Thompson’s educational background in Broadcast and Media Communications, Radio from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, has undoubtedly strengthened his foundation in the industry.
