Candace is a graduate of Wichita State University with a degree in broadcast journalism from the university.

Before moving to WTVR, Candace was working as an anchor and reporter at ABC12 News in Flint, Michigan. Before joining ABC12, she was a reporter in Lansing. Candace also worked in Northern Michigan, where she juggled close to every job at the station, anchoring, reporting, and producing newscasts.

At WTVR, Burns is the evening news anchor for the 6 & 11 PM newscasts that air both in WTVR CVS 6 in Richmond, VA, and the DCW50 News at 10 PM in Washington, D.C. She is an Associate Press award winner and an Emmy nominee.
