Christine Sloan is an accomplished and Emmy Award-winning reporter who brings New Jersey’s stories to CBS 2 New York. She rejoined the station in January 2023, having previously worked there from 2004 to 2016.
Before returning to CBS 2 New York, Christine served as a freelance anchor and correspondent for ABC News, showcasing her versatility as a multi-platform journalist across various shows.
From 2016 to 2019, Christine hosted and produced “Restaurant Hunter,” a food show that aired on Verizon’s FiOS 1 News, where she explored the culinary landscape of New Jersey. The show highlighted both celebrity chef-owned restaurants and beloved local dining spots in the Garden State.
Christine’s exceptional work has earned her six Emmy nominations and a New Jersey Press Association Award. She also made a significant impact as a reporter for InsiderNJ, writing investigative stories and covering New Jersey lawmakers. Her contributions led to her recognition as one of the “50 Most Powerful People in NJ” by the former website, PolitickerNJ.
Throughout her career, Christine has covered numerous high-profile breaking news stories, including the September 11th attacks, the George Washington Bridge lane closures, the resignation of New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey, and the impact of Superstorm Sandy. She has also reported on six New Jersey Governors and notable court cases.
Although Christine grew up in Iran, her family left the country just before the 1979 Islamic Revolution. They arrived in the United States with only suitcases, leaving behind all their possessions. Christine spent her formative years in Southern California before relocating to New Jersey in her early 20s.
Her journalism journey began at Cablevision’s North Hudson News in Union City, New Jersey, and she later worked for News 12 New Jersey and NBC 10 in Philadelphia.
Christine holds a Master of Science Degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara. During her time at Santa Barbara City College, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning college newspaper, The Channels. Furthermore, Christine’s passion for cooking led her to acquire several certificates from the French Culinary Institute (now the International Culinary Institute) in New York City.
Fluent in Farsi (Persian) and a dedicated mother, Christine resides in New Jersey with her family, balancing her personal and professional life with unwavering commitment.
