Tripp is an American journalist currently serving as the sports anchor and reporter for NBC 7’s weekday evening and joins the team on NBC 7 SportsWrap Sundays. Prior to moving to San Diego, Darnay was the sports director at KREM 2 Spokane, Washington. There, he has managed the overall coverage and strategic direction for their sports team while producing, shooting, editing, writing, and anchoring. He has won an Edward R. Murrow Award for Sports Reporting: “Zac Climber Revenge” in 2018. Some highlights of Tripp’s coverage have been six NCAA tournaments and covering the Seattle Seahawks during multiple NFL Playoff games and two Super Bowls. He also followed Washington State to San Diego for back-to-back Holiday Bowl appearances.
He is originally from Philadelphia and studied Journalism at Towson University in Baltimore. When not at work, he loves checking out San Diego’s great restaurants with his fiance Laura.
