Darren Winberg’s journey in broadcasting took off when he joined NBC Montana in 2017, marking a significant milestone in his career after working in production at ABC4 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

His passion for journalism led him to graduate from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, where he gained valuable skills and experience. He furthered his education by earning a journalism degree from BYU-Idaho, solidifying his foundation in the field.

Darren’s broadcasting adventure began when he secured a job as a sports show host at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, a role that ignited his love for sports reporting. This paved the way for exciting opportunities, and he was selected to co-anchor an entertainment news show at BYU-Idaho. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, his wife, and even went on to propose to her on-air, making the moment even more special.

To gain practical experience and exposure, Darren interned at the University of Pennsylvania, where he took on sideline reporting and covered thrilling arena football events. His time at the university allowed him to grow as a broadcaster and learn the ropes of on-field reporting.

Originally hailing from Alberta, Canada, Darren embarked on a bold adventure at the age of 18 when he left his family farm behind. Armed with just one suitcase and an abundance of spirit, he ventured to Las Vegas. It was in the vibrant city of lights that Darren’s charm and talent earned him the title of Mr. Nevada 2010 in Cosmopolitan Magazine, showcasing his charisma and appeal.

His Cosmo exposure opened doors to a modeling career, leading to incredible opportunities like appearing on “LIVE with Regis and Kelly” and being interviewed by the esteemed New York Post. Beyond his broadcasting pursuits, Darren’s love for sports knows no bounds.

When he’s not on the job, you might find him fully immersed in the world of sports, whether it’s watching games, reading about athletes and teams, playing sports himself, or passionately cheering for his favorite teams, occasionally throwing pillows at the TV in moments of defeat.
