David Muir was born on 8 November 1973. He is an American journalist and the anchor of ABC World News Tonight. He is also the co-anchor of the ABC News magazine 20/20 which is part of the news department of the ABC broadcast television network, based in New York City.

Muir graduated from Onondaga Central Junior-Senior High School in May 1991 and enrolled in the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in May 1995.

When he was still in college, he also attended the Institute on Political Journalism at the Fund for American Studies at Georgetown University and studied at the University of Salamanca in Spain with the Institute for the International Education of Students.
