Drew Remenda, a distinguished Canadian figure in the world of hockey, has had a remarkable career as a former coach, radio broadcaster, and television hockey analyst. Recently, he served as a pre/post-game analyst for the San Jose Sharks.

Drew Remenda Biography and Career

In August 2014, Drew Remenda joined the NHL on Sportsnet broadcast team as the game analyst for the Edmonton Oilers. Prior to this role, he had an illustrious seven-season stint as the television colour analyst for the San Jose Sharks broadcasts on Comcast Sportsnet California.

With an impressive 24-year career spanning the NHL and broadcasting, Remenda’s journey began in 1988 when he embarked on a coaching career as an assistant coach for the University of Calgary. During this time, he also made valuable contributions to Canada’s National Team and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association. In 1991, Remenda joined the San Jose Sharks organization as an assistant coach, where he played an integral role for four seasons.

After the 1995-96 season, Remenda shifted his focus to broadcasting and became the radio colour commentator for the Sharks, working alongside the renowned play-by-play announcer Dan Rusanowsky.

In 1999, Remenda made a seamless transition to the Sharks’ television broadcast team as a colour commentator and also became the host of the popular television show “SharkByte,” offering viewers an insider’s look into the Sharks organization.

Following seven successful years with the Sharks, he headed north to join CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada as an analyst for the 2006-07 season. In addition to his television work, Remenda hosted “The Drew Remenda Show” on News Talk 650 CKOM in his hometown of Saskatoon.

After his stint with CBC, Remenda returned to San Jose to resume his role as the colour analyst for Sharks television broadcasts. Over the course of 14 seasons with the San Jose Sharks, Remenda’s outstanding contributions were recognized with five Northern California Emmy Awards, a testament to his excellence in broadcasting.
