In 2011, Ed Rollins became a valued contributor to the Fox News Channel. Over the course of his impressive career, Rollins has served under and advised four United States Presidents. Notably, he held the position of Assistant to the President, overseeing both the White House Office of Political Affairs and the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, as well as serving as deputy chief of staff during the Reagan administration.
Rollins achieved a significant milestone in 1984 when he managed President Ronald Reagan’s successful reelection campaign, securing victories in 49 out of 50 states. In addition to his pivotal role in President Reagan’s campaign, Rollins has played prominent roles in nine other Presidential campaigns and has been involved in hundreds of campaigns at the state, congressional, and local levels.
With more than four decades of experience in politics, Rollins has provided counsel to cabinet officers, U.S. senators, governors, members of Congress, state legislators, and city officials, offering his expertise and strategic guidance.
Before his tenure in Washington, Rollins served as the Republican Chief of Staff and Assistant to the Speaker of the California State Assembly. In 2011, his contributions and achievements were recognized with induction into the Political Consultants Hall of Fame.
Rollins currently holds the position of senior presidential fellow at Hofstra University’s Center for the Study of the American Presidency in New York. In 1996, his memoir titled “Bare Knuckles and Back Rooms” became the number-one selling political book in America, further cementing his influence and reach.
Rollins graduated from California State University, Chico, where he excelled both as a Varsity athlete and as student body president. Additionally, he attained national recognition as a top-ranked amateur boxer. In 2012, the Board of Trustees of the California State University bestowed upon Rollins an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, acknowledging his professional accomplishments and political acumen.
Rollins has received notable accolades for his contributions. In 2010, he was honored with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, and in 2016, he was awarded the John Ashbrook award. The John M. Ashbrook Award is an annual recognition that celebrates individuals who uphold the ideals of limited constitutional government, which were championed by John M. Ashbrook, a former Ohio congressman and co-founder of the American Conservative Union. The inaugural recipient of this award was President Ronald Reagan in 1986.
