With over 15 years of experience spanning TV, digital, radio, and print media, Giokos is known for her versatility as a correspondent. She joined CNN in 2015 and has since conducted interviews with notable figures, including former South African President Jacob Zuma and former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.
Her portfolio of business and economic interviews includes high-profile individuals such as Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund; Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank; Richard Branson, founder of Virgin; and prominent African business leaders like Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, Patrice Motsepe, and the late Bob Collymore.
Throughout her career at CNN, Giokos has reported extensively across Africa, covering stories in Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Senegal, Ghana, Lesotho, and more. She has also highlighted the growing connections between Africa and Asia, reporting from South Korea and Kazakhstan, and has traveled to Washington DC, London, New York, and Atlanta to anchor shows.
Giokos started her career at CNBC Africa in 2005 and later joined the 24-hour news channel eNCA as an anchor and correspondent. During her time there, she covered a range of business stories and breaking news events, including the Oscar Pistorius trial and the Westgate Mall attack.
In addition to her work as a correspondent, Giokos has contributed to South Africa’s Mail and Guardian newspaper, served as a motivational speaker at public schools, and provided training to aspiring journalism students. She holds an Honors Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the University of Witwatersrand and was recognized as an International Monetary Fund Fellow in 2014.
