Gibby, a proud native of Arizona, embarked on his broadcasting career in his hometown of Yuma. Even while still a junior in high school, he landed his first job in 1989 as a tape operator for KYEL-TV. Although the era of tapes is long gone, Gibby has seamlessly adapted to the changing times. He swiftly transitioned to the role of a photographer for KYEL and later made his way to KOLD in Tucson after graduating from Yuma High School.
In 1994, at the young age of 21, Gibby relocated to Phoenix and joined 3TV as a photojournalist. Quickly becoming an essential part of the station’s flagship show, “Good Morning Arizona,” he has been witness to Arizona’s Family’s growth and transformation over nearly three decades, including the merger with CBS 5.
While Gibby initially worked behind the camera, he now frequently finds himself in front of it as well, reporting for “Good Morning Arizona” on both 3TV and CBS 5. He covers a wide range of topics, from breaking news to the enjoyable and lighthearted features that Arizona’s Family appreciates.
Reflecting on his career, Gibby fondly recalls his mother’s advice: “If you love what you do, then you’ll never work a day in your life.” Celebrating his 25th anniversary with Arizona’s Family, he wholeheartedly agrees with her sentiment, stating that he has never felt like he’s worked a single day in his life.
Through his dedication and passion, Gibby continues to bring engaging stories to the viewers of Arizona’s Family, embodying the spirit of his beloved profession.
