Originally from Minnesota, Joe’s career has taken him to various locations across the country before settling in Atlanta in 2016 to be part of the 11Alive team. His passion for journalism led him to pursue a diverse education.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, communication studies, and creative writing from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Later, he pursued a master’s degree in mass communication from the prestigious Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University, during which he reported for Cronkite News Service’s Washington, D.C. bureau, focusing on Arizona’s delegation and key state issues.

Following his studies, Joe ventured into reporting roles in different cities. He worked for 23ABC (KERO) in Bakersfield, California, and later joined 2 Works For You (KJRH) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, gaining valuable experience along the way.

As a general assignment reporter, Joe’s expertise spans various subjects, including crime, politics, business, education, and features. He finds enjoyment in the diversity of topics he gets to cover, always seeking to deliver compelling stories to his audience.

Joe’s dedication and hard work have earned him well-deserved recognition. He received the Best Broadcast Reporter award from the Society of Professional Journalists for three consecutive years in Oklahoma (2015, 2016, and 2017). Furthermore, the Georgia Associated Press honored him as the best reporter in the state in 2018.

In his personal life, Joe met his wife during their time at ASU, and they share a love for traveling, visiting family in Minnesota and Trinidad, catching up on their favorite shows on their DVR, and spending time at Piedmont Park, undoubtedly cherishing the joys of life together.
