In May 2017, John Genovese joined ABC15 as a talented multimedia journalist, marking a homecoming of sorts, as he grew up in the Valley and was thrilled to be back.
Prior to his role at ABC15, John showcased his journalistic skills at two of the station’s sister channels, WCPO in Cincinnati, Ohio, and KERO in Bakersfield, California. Throughout his career, he has covered a wide range of events and stories, from All-Star Game events to the Republican National Convention and Hurricane Matthew in Florida.
Notably, John’s reporting on a carjacking incident involving a mentally-disabled man in the backseat earned him a regional Emmy award nomination in 2016, highlighting his commitment to delivering impactful breaking news coverage.
John’s educational background is equally impressive, having earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the renowned Walter Cronkite School at Arizona State University. During his time in college, he secured first place in the Hearst Journalism Awards national championship, a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication.
Beyond his professional achievements, John finds joy in spending quality time with his family. He also loves exploring the area, attending concerts, and discovering new restaurants and breweries, showing an adventurous and sociable side to his personality.
