Katie joins WTVA from Collierville, Tennessee, where she spent the majority of her life. Despite her previous location, she considers herself a Mississippi girl at heart. Born in Tampa, Florida, Katie has had the opportunity to live in nine different places, including Maine, before finding her home in Mississippi.
Katie’s fascination with weather was ignited during the impact of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, which directly affected her and her family. This experience fueled her passion for meteorology, leading her to become a self-proclaimed weather nerd and pursue studies in the field at Mississippi State University.
Prior to her career in meteorology, Katie attended Briarcrest Christian High School in Memphis, Tennessee. She later graduated from Mississippi State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences with a concentration in Professional and Broadcast Meteorology.
Outside of her weather-related endeavors, Katie cherishes moments spent with her husband, children, family, and friends. She enjoys engaging in activities like yoga, running, and visiting the beach, which allow her to unwind and find joy beyond her professional pursuits.
