Katie Moore, an accomplished journalist and five-time Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter, currently serves as the 5 & 10 pm anchor for WWL-TV, the CBS affiliate in New Orleans. Her illustrious career in journalism began as a Washington Correspondent for WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. Afterward, she spent over six years as a political reporter and fill-in anchor at KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Katie’s dedication and exceptional work in the field of political journalism earned her the prestigious national Walter Cronkite Award for Individual Achievement. In 2006, she returned to her hometown of New Orleans to join WWL-TV.
Throughout her career, Katie Moore’s investigative reporting has had a significant impact, leading to positive changes, exposing corruption, and enlightening the public. In 2017, she received three Emmy awards, including recognition for her outstanding work in documentary production and on-air talent. One of her notable achievements was the investigative news special “Searching for Ramona Brown.” Additionally, she was honored for her coverage of the heroic efforts of the Cajun Navy during the Great Flood of 2016 near Baton Rouge.
In 2016, Katie and her investigative team were honored with an Emmy for their in-depth series titled “NOPD: Call Waiting,” which brought attention to the alarming police response times in the country. Their work also earned a national Delta Sigma Chi award for investigative reporting in collaboration with reporters from the partner newspaper, The Times Picayune | New Orleans Advocate.
Over the years, Katie’s outstanding reporting has garnered numerous accolades, including the Jim Metcalf Memorial Award for story of the year at the New Orleans Press Club Awards in 2008. She also received an Emmy Nomination and the Best Investigative Report award from the Louisiana Associated Press for her eye-opening investigation into double billing for inmates at Orleans Parish Prison. In 2009, the New Orleans Press Club recognized her with the Best Feature award for her heartwarming coverage of dolphins finding a new home in the Bahamas after Hurricane Katrina.
Katie Moore’s academic background is equally impressive, as she is a proud graduate of Northshore High School, Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and Northwestern University’s prestigious Medill School of Journalism in Chicago.
Beyond her professional achievements, Katie embraces her New Orleans roots, where she resides with her husband, daughter, and son. She has a genuine passion for the local culture, enjoying delicacies such as king cake and crawfish that are synonymous with the region she proudly calls home.
