Having moved several times in my life, I am now delighted to call East Tennessee my home. My journey led me to Knoxville, where I had the fortunate opportunity to join the Straight from the Heart team as a Multiplatform Producer in June 2017.

Tennessee marks the fifth state I’ve lived in, with previous homes in Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, and North Carolina – a testament to my family’s penchant for moving. My many relocations instilled in me a passion for traveling and exploring new places, and I’ve been fortunate to visit 13 countries, immersing myself in diverse cultures. However, my love for travel is not my only passion; I am equally drawn to the art of storytelling and the world of writing.

Although I had always been captivated by the art of storytelling, it wasn’t until high school that I discovered my calling in journalism. It all began when my choir teacher encouraged me to “explore my other talents,” leading me to apply for my school newspaper. From that moment, I was hooked on writing and aspired to turn it into a career.

With this newfound passion, I decided to attend the University of Missouri, drawn to its renowned journalism school. During my time there, I landed a position at KOMU-TV, the NBC affiliate in mid-Missouri. Starting at the ground level, I engaged in various tasks, from equipment check-ins to handling phone calls.

Over the next four years, I embraced numerous roles in on-air and online news coverage. My enthusiasm for reporting led me to take on a second job at Newsy, an online news network, where I pitched story ideas to AOL based on morning news highlights. Concurrently, at KOMU, I honed my skills as a television and digital producer, covering diverse topics ranging from the 2016 presidential debate in St. Louis to a rodeo event in the charming town of Moberly.

Upon graduation, I realized my dream of turning my love for writing into a career when I became a Multiplatform Producer at WBIR. In this role, I have the privilege of crafting and writing newscasts, while also producing content for all our online platforms. Every day, I get to do what I am truly passionate about, and it fills me with joy and fulfillment.

As I continue my journey in Knoxville, I am grateful for the opportunity to share compelling stories with the community, both on air and online. It is a privilege to be a part of the media industry and to have the chance to pursue my passion every single day.
