Katy’s journey in broadcasting began during her time at Bucknell University, where she earned a degree in Geography. Throughout her college years, she pursued various broadcasting internships, including one at WHYY in Philadelphia. She further honed her skills by working at news stations in Roswell and Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Hartford, Connecticut.
