Kayla Schmidt recently joined the 9 On Your Side news team as Jacksonville’s Digital Reporter, bringing her passion for meeting people and telling their stories to the forefront.

Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from East Carolina University in Greenville, Kayla feels right at home in Jacksonville, where she can put her skills to work.

During her time at college, Kayla showcased her talents at the university’s radio station, WZMB 91.3, where she managed the station and took on the roles of Music Director and show host for two original programs.

Originally from Mount Olive, New Jersey, Kayla also has strong family ties in North Carolina, which adds to her sense of belonging in the community. With her dedication to journalism and storytelling, Kayla Schmidt is excited to make a positive impact as a member of the 9 On Your Side news team in Jacksonville.
