Her passion for journalism led her to graduate from Temple University’s prestigious Klein College of Media and Communication in May 2018. During her time at Temple, Kayla’s dedication shone brightly as she served as a reporter and anchor for OwlSports Update, a remarkable show on Temple TV that earned the College Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award.
This exceptional experience allowed her to cover prestigious events like the Penn Relays and the exhilarating journey of Temple football towards three consecutive NCAA bowl games.
Recognizing her leadership abilities, Kayla was elected as the president of the Temple Association of Black Journalists, a student chapter of the esteemed NABJ, where she served for two years. Under her guidance, the chapter thrived, witnessing an increase in membership and successfully conducting programs on professional development.
Throughout her journey, Kayla’s talent and dedication earned her a prestigious Emma Bowen Foundation fellowship, leading to a highly sought-after internship with Fox 29 Philadelphia. Later, her remarkable skills secured her a full-time news trainee position with Fox 5 in the bustling heart of New York City.
