Kayla Thompson became a valued addition to the WJTV news team in June of 2020, bringing her passion for journalism and storytelling to the forefront. Hailing from Brandon, Mississippi, Kayla is a 2018 graduate of Jacksonville State University, where she earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Her exceptional contributions to athletics and community involvement were recognized with the prestigious “Eagle Owl Award,” the highest athletic honor at JSU.

Jackson State TV also played a significant role in shaping Kayla’s journey in journalism, providing her with valuable experiences and teaching her the art of storytelling. Alongside her academic pursuits, she took on the role of hosting one of Jacksonville State’s most popular radio shows, further honing her communication and on-air skills.
