Kevin Jacobsen, a highly accomplished journalist and Emmy-Award winner, currently holds the position of news director at KBJR 6.
His journey in Duluth began in November 2008, where he initially anchored the news on CBS 3 (then KDLH) before transitioning to anchor the KBJR 6 News at 6 and 10. In June 2015, he took on a behind-the-scenes role as assistant news director and later earned a promotion to the esteemed position of news director in August 2017.
Before his tenure in the Northland, Kevin kick-started his career by anchoring the morning news on KMEG-TV in Sioux City, Iowa. He also worked as a reporter at News 12 Connecticut. His passion for television news emerged during his high school years when he interned with WRNN-TV in New York. Throughout his college breaks, he dedicated himself to capturing news stories in and around his hometown for News 12 Hudson Valley.
Kevin earned a B.S. in Television News from Lyndon State College, a small and renowned institution located in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
Being a dual-citizen of Denmark, Kevin takes immense pride in his Danish heritage and was raised just outside of New York City by his Danish parents. His passion for journalism began early, as he secured press credentials before even obtaining his driver’s license.
Alongside his wife, Annie, Kevin resides in Duluth’s East Hillside, where they share their home with their beloved dog, Rory, and their cat, Misse (Danish for kitty).
In his leisure time, Kevin keeps a close connection with his family in Denmark, indulges in digital photography, and tries his hand at golf, attempting to avoid landing his ball in the rough.
