Khalida’s journey into the world of news began at Hampton University, where she pursued Journalism and Communications at the esteemed Scripps Howard School of Journalism.
Throughout her college years, Khalida actively engaged with WHOV News and contributed as a writer for the Hampton Script Newspaper during her free time. Additionally, she collaborated with the Hampton University Media Department, covering and reporting on sports news for the HU Basketball and Football teams.
Her passion for journalism also led her to work with various production companies, including a role as a production assistant in a documentary. Notably, Khalida made her debut in the entertainment industry as part of the General Production staff for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Upon graduating, Khalida chose a career that fused her love for social media and journalism. Returning to her home state of Maryland, she served as a Digital Content Producer for WMAR-2 News Baltimore before moving to Washington D.C., where she currently holds the position of Digital Editor for WUSA9 News.
In this role, Khalida has covered several significant breaking stories, including the Capital Gazette Shooting, Ellicott City flooding, Baltimore City crime, and heartwarming human interest stories that resonated with numerous Facebook and Twitter users.
Khalida firmly believes that digital journalism is the way forward, making news appealing and informative for generations to come. Her approach involves being concise, informative, and creative, all aimed at influencing and engaging every viewer.
Always eager to stay up-to-date with new trends, Khalida dedicates her free time to scrolling through Twitter and Instagram for the latest entertainment news. She actively participates in seminars and workshops on diverse subjects and is a staunch supporter of the Oxford comma.
Not only is Khalida a dedicated journalist, but she is also a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Her commitment to her profession and her community showcases her determination to make a positive impact through her work.
