Mary graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, in June 1989.
Mary began her career in media working at a local radio station as a presenter and reporter. In 1991 she joined the News 12 Networks as a junior news director and newscaster. She station operates seven regional cable-television news channels in the New York metropolitan area.
In March 2002 she joined WCBS-TV in New York City, New York as a correspondent and anchor. WCBS-TV is a flagship station of the CBS broadcast-television network.
She has 6 Emmy awards which include two for her live breaking news coverage, and one for an in-depth series on sexual paedophiles, “Predator Next Door.” She has also been honored for her writing at the New York Festival’s World Media Awards. She has a National ACE Award for Excellence in Journalism, a Clarion Award for Excellence in Reporting, and the ACIM Award for Excellence in Community Service. She has also appeared in a documentary movie, ‘Indian Point: Imagining the Unimaginable’.
