Renita Young is a highly regarded on-air markets reporter for Bloomberg Television. Based in New York, she provides up-to-the-minute financial markets updates on Bloomberg Television every weekday afternoon.
Renita also anchors global news segments for Bloomberg’s “First Word” and “Business Flash.” In addition to her television work, she covers the “Weekend Money Minute” report for Bloomberg Radio and its extensive network of CBS Radio affiliates, as well as platforms like SiriusXM, Google Home, and Alexa.
Before joining Bloomberg, Renita made her mark as a commodities correspondent at Reuters. During her time there, she launched and hosted the innovative show called “#GoldWatch” on Reuters TV. This Twitter show delved into intriguing gold market trends, garnering an impressive average of 150,000+ views per weekend.
She reported on notable events such as President Barack Obama’s farewell address and Chicago gun laws for Reuters TV and USA Today. Renita also took Jet Magazine to the London Olympics by managing its Twitter feed and contributed to BBC TV and Radio.
Renita’s career in business news reporting began at K24-TV, where she played a pivotal role in establishing Nairobi’s first local 24-hour news network in Kenya. A proud native of Chicago, she holds a degree from DePaul University and a Masters from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.
Renita Young actively participates in the National Association of Black Journalists, where she co-chairs the Business Journalism Task Force. She has also served as president and secretary of the Chicago chapter and mentored aspiring journalists in the Baton Rouge chapter.
Renita’s contributions extend beyond her professional work, as she has been recognized in the inaugural “Top 40 Under 40 to Watch” class by the Chicago Defender and remains dedicated to volunteering in her community.
