Ryan Hughes is an American investigative reporter. He works for WFLA-TV, virtual channel 8, and is thus based in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. He can be seen on the station at 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. during weekdays. When he was still new to the channel, he covered the early morning work shift.

Ryan was born and raised in Bangor, Maine. He attended the Gray-New Gloucester High School from 1996 to 2000. After graduating high school, he joined the Temple University from 2000 to 2004. He graduated from university with a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Mass Media. When free, he likes traveling, watching soccer (he is a big fan of the Orlando City Lions). He also likes health and fitness.

Ryan started off as a general assignment reporter for WABI-TV based in Bangor, Maine. He worked here from September 2004 to December 2006. In May the year after he left WABI, he joined WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Florida.

He left the station after 2 years to join WFTV-TV still as a general assignment reporter. In December 2015, he moved on to WFLA-TV where he has worked ever since. At WFLA, he was a general assignment reporter. Over the years he has worked with WFLA, he rose through the ranks to where he is at the time.

Throughout the years, he has covered a number of stories in the various stations he has worked for. In 2013, he even worked as a courtroom reporter covering the second-degree murder trial of George Zimmerman who was accused of killing Trayvon Martin.

He has also helped Clermont Police officers regain employment after being fired or demoted for reporting their police chief for inappropriate behaviors. There is a lot more he has covered as a reporter with topics ranging from crime to conspiracies.
