Scott Gordon Biography and Career Life
He graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He enjoys spending time with his wife and teenage twins.
Scott joined NBC 5 news back in 1994. He reported from the Gulf coast during numerous hurricanes and was the first Texas reporter to broadcast nationally from the scene of the space shuttle Columbia disaster. Scott was among the first reporters at Fort Hood to cover the 2010 Massacre.
He has specialized in reporting federal court cases such as terrorism, white-collar crimes and the influence of Mexican drug cartels in North Texas. He also covered the financial woes at Fort Worth-based American Airlines. Scott enjoys reporting on sports.
Gordon reported from San Francisco during the 2010 World Series. Before joining NBC 5, he used to cover political scandals and he also investigated report for KTUL-TV situated in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Scott started his career at KSNF-TV located in Joplin, Missouri.
He later moved to KAMR-TV in Amarillo. Scott has covered some of the biggest stories throughout the years including the racially-motivated dragging death of a black man in Jasper, to the tense standoff with the Republic of Texas separatist movement at Fort Davis, to the bonfire collapse at Texas A&M University.
In 2011, Scott reported on the wildfires that ravaged Texas — from Palo Pinto County to Bastrop. Within hours of the bombing of the Murrah federal building in 1995, he was on the scene covering the story live.
He went back for numerous follow-ups, including the execution of Timothy McVeigh. He followed the 9/11 terror attack and then traveled to Tunisia as part of an exchange program with Arab reporters.
