Ley has spent more than 20 years covering stories in television news, Shawn’s reporting has taken him from war-torn eastern Europe to reporting from an F-16 fighter jet not to mention fast and furious breaking news of Detroit. Ley attended Dayton University and landed a part-time job writing news. He got his first glimpse of a television studio in his hometown well before starting his professional career.

Shawn Ley Family
He was Raised in Dayton, Ohio. His father did radio. His career has led Ley to move several times, it was during a one-year stint in Detroit that Ley met Sandra Ali while working at WDIV. The couple ended up moving to Cincinnati before returning to Detroit in 2010. The pair both work as anchors at WDIV.
The couple is trying to balance between hectic work schedules and raising twins 7-year-old Roman and 4-year-old Isla. They celebrated their 12th anniversary on 19 September 2018.
