Tess Rafols, an accomplished journalist and Emmy award-winner, brightens your mornings with a warm smile as part of 3TV/CBS 5’s Good Morning Arizona. From 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. on weekdays, she anchors the highly-rated early morning show, delivering top stories and engaging segments until 10 a.m.
Originally from Southern California, Tess joined Arizona’s Family in January 2005, bringing with her a wealth of experience from anchoring weekday morning shows at WTOL in Toledo, Ohio, and KEYT-TV in Santa Barbara, California. Her journalism career began as a reporter for the Orange County News Channel.
Throughout her career, Tess has covered a wide range of stories, including natural disasters like EF5 tornadoes, presidential visits, and investigative reports. However, her true passion lies in stories that touch people’s hearts and provide assistance to those in need. She produces the uplifting segment “Something Good” for Arizona’s Family and actively participates in the Surprise Squad. Tess also enjoys sharing money-saving tips, time-saving ideas, and the latest trends in her “Try it With Tess” segments.
Tess is deeply involved in community events, particularly supporting children’s charities such as the March of Dimes. She cherishes her connection with viewers and is always eager to engage with them through social media. Whether it’s sharing story ideas, recommending great restaurants or products, offering life hacks, or simply saying hello, Tess values the interactions with her audience.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, Tess holds a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. Her proudest and most cherished moments revolve around the birth of her triplets: Cooper, Jaxon, and Zoey. Born prematurely at just 30 weeks, she affectionately refers to them as her “little miracles.” Now thriving teenagers, they bring joy and fulfillment to Tess’s life. Outside of her demanding work, Tess takes on the role of a dedicated mom, shuttling her kids to and from school, practices, and activities. Exploring Arizona, hiking, fishing, watching movies, and playing board games are among the activities her family enjoys together.
Don’t miss the opportunity to join Tess and the rest of the Good Morning Arizona team on weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., as they bring you the latest news and a delightful start to your day.
