Tom Jarriel, also known as Thomas Jarriel, is a retired American TV news reporter and used to work for ABC News since 1964-2002. He was born on December 29th, 1934 in LaGrange, Georgia, USA.

He joined ABC News 20/20 in 1979 as a correspondent. He has been involved in reporting on various different topics including a report on female members of the US Armed Forces who alleged that they were raped and sexually abused while serving their country. This report raised concern with allegations that the response from the military officials was inadequate.
He reported on the Californian serial killer who is said to have manipulated the justice system during the longest and most expensive cases in American history. He investigated the story that the design of long range weapons used against US Army soldiers by Saddam Hussein may have come from the US Army research labs.
He anchored an ABC News Special, The Business of Defense: Flaws in the Shield, in December, 1988. The broadcast looked at the system of Pentagon procurement and how it had been corrupted. As from 1979-1990, Jarriel was the anchor for ABC NEWS’, The Weekend Report and ABC News brief on Sunday evenings.
He has received numerous awards in his career including the EDI Award from the National Easter Seal Society, The Middle Dane Ross Award from the Overseas Press Club, a Christopher Award and an award from the Columbus International Film Festival.
He is also the recipient of an American Bar Association Certificate of Merit Award, a Sigma Chi Delta Award, the Clarion Award from Women in Communications Inc., the Gold Award from the National Mental Health Association Media Awards and a National Headliner Award.
Jarriel received two 1994 Genesis Awards for his report, Where Does Your Dog Come From?. He has also received 10 Emmy Award in his career at ABC NEWS. He was named the senior regional correspondent for ABC NEWS’, World News Tonight.
